273 PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS TEACHING

GENERAL INFORMATION
Our faculty was initially established in 1996 as the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching under the Faculty of Education in the Bozkurt district of Denizli. Later, in 2002, our school was relocated to the İncilipınar Campus of the Faculty of Education in Denizli city center. Subsequently, the establishment of the School of Sports Sciences and Technology under the Rectorate of Pamukkale University was decided by the Council of Ministers on 25/04/2002, following the request of the Ministry of National Education dated 18/04/2002 and numbered 10656, in accordance with Article 30 of Law No. 2809, dated 28/03/1983. In 2014, the decision to establish the Faculty of Sports Sciences under the Rectorate of Pamukkale University was taken by the Council of Ministers on 14/08/2014 and was published in the Official Gazette on 26 August 2014, issue number 29100, thereby coming into effect. Our faculty continues its educational activities by admitting new students every year. The Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program operates with a qualified academic staff and a contemporary educational approach. Within the program, students pursue their education under the guidance of faculty members specialized in various disciplines and leading research areas, following a holistic educational approach that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application. Our faculty aims to contribute to the field of sports sciences through scientific research and community service initiatives.

Objective
The aim of this program is to provide a contemporary physical education and sports education that adheres to Atatürk's principles and reforms, respects human rights, and integrates science and technology with originality and aesthetic values, while promoting sports culture and contributing to society. The program aims to educate qualified individuals for the benefit of society in light of universal values. Another goal of the program is to enhance the quality of national and international scientific research through its academic work and graduates while establishing itself as a leading institution in cultivating physically equipped individuals and, consequently, fostering an informed society.


Admission Requirements
Candidates wishing to be admitted to Pamukkale University Faculty of Sports Sciences must meet the following requirements: General Admission Requirements Be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey or meet the special conditions determined by ÖSYM and YÖK. Have taken the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by ÖSYM and obtained a valid score from the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT). Candidates applying to teaching programs must have a minimum ranking of 800,000 in the Y-TYT score. Successfully pass the special talent exam for programs requiring such an assessment. Special Talent Exam Success Requirements Candidates must achieve the minimum threshold score set for the special talent exam. Candidates applying to programs requiring a Physical Proficiency Test (FYT) must achieve the minimum required performance level in the test. Applications from candidates with disabilities will be evaluated according to the relevant regulations, and placement will be made within the designated disability quota. International and Dual Citizenship Candidates Candidates who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) or ethnic Turkish migrants from Bulgaria are eligible to apply. Foreign nationals or stateless individuals must apply through the international student quotas unless they obtain Turkish citizenship before the placement process begins. Placement Process Candidates will be ranked based on the central placement scores determined by ÖSYM and placed in the faculty accordingly. In addition to the general quota, national athlete and disability quotas will also be taken into account in the placement process. Any vacant quotas will be transferred to the general quota during the additional placement period. Registration and Admission Procedures Candidates who have been placed must complete their university registration within the announced deadlines. The required documents for registration may vary depending on the program and will be announced by the relevant university department. Candidates who fail to complete their registration within the specified period will lose their admission rights. For updates and detailed information regarding the admission process, candidates are advised to regularly check the official websites of ÖSYM and Pamukkale University.

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to complete all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum successfully with no failing grades, including compulsory practical and summer training, and have a minimum CGPA requirement as stated in Pamukkale University’s undergraduate program guidance.

Career Opportunties
Graduates of the Department of Physical Education and Sport can work; • as physical education teacher in primary and secondary schools which are connected to the Ministry of Education, • as trainer or sports expertise in the Department of Education or other departments of The General Directorate of Youth and Sports, taking coaching certificate from related federations in Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports under the General Directorate of Youth and Sports, • and as a research assistant or instructor in the Departments of Physical Education and Sport in the School of Physical Education and Sport, and the School of Sport Sciences and Technology at universities.

Recognition of Prior Learning
For students who want to transfer from higher education institutions in Turkey to Pamukkale University, the provisions of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" are applied. The common compulsory foreign language courses exemption exam is held at the beginning of the fall semester on the date specified in the academic calendar. No make-up exam is allowed for this exam. Students of faculties/vocational schools/schools who do not have a preparatory program take the joint compulsory foreign language exemption exam. Students who will take the exemption exam apply to the relevant unit within the period specified in the academic calendar. Also; Students who enroll in departments with foreign language preparatory programs for the first time take a placement and proficiency exam before the academic year starts. Students are placed in one of the beginner, intermediate-lower level or intermediate level groups according to the scores they get in this exam, or those who have proficiency points are exempted from preparatory education. The score ranges of these groups are determined by the School Directorate. Exam results are announced in relevant places and on the website of the School of Foreign Languages. Among the students who are enrolled in the departments/programs accepted to the compulsory preparatory education, those who do not take the level determination and proficiency exam start their education at the beginning level.

Access to Further Studies
