Course Objective Within the scope of this course, scientific method, scientific approaches, quantitative and qualitative methods, paradigm, theory concepts will be emphasized and the foundations of scientific research will be discussed in the context of these concepts. At the end of this course, students will learn the basic features of paradigms and method understandings in social sciences, will be able to improve their thinking and comparison skills, and will gain the necessary knowledge for the ability to produce sociological knowledge. In addition, they will have detailed information about data collection, measurement and evaluation techniques.
Course Content This course contains a general survey of social science research techniques. Within the scope of this course is handled experimental and non-experimental research designs, measurement theory, reliability and validity, panel designs, sampling theory and designs, statistical evaluation procedures. Besides, students gain knowledge about data collection techniques, scaling procedures, multivariate analysis techniques including multiple correlation and regression, multiple classification analysis, factor analysis and related procedures, complex experimental designs and the writing of research reports throughout the lesson
