Course Objective Within the scope of this course, it is aimed to analyze the scenes, images and allegorical expressions in Byzantine art. Examining iconographic and stylistic development of art works, recognizing technical details, and gaining ability to use professional language at the level of doctoral education are among the objectives.
Course Content In the examples of monumental painting, book illumination and handicrafts; preliminary iconographic identification, analysis and iconological interpretation will be made. In addition, will be focused on establishing relations with the Byzantine period and different contemporary civilizations and evaluating material culture in the light of written sources.
