COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The history of mathematics teaching in Turkey and in the world, teaching and learning strategies, learning theories in mathematics teaching and using ICT in mathematics teaching will be given.
Course Content The aim of teaching mathematics, and basic rules about it, a short history of teaching mathematics in Turkey and in other countries in the world, teaching and learning strategies used in teaching mathematics, concept of mathematics taught in primary schools, targets and features of mathematics in primary schools, basic learning techniques and how they are related with teaching mathematics, measurement and evaluation in mathematics, classes, solving problems (strategies, levels, and types of problems), improving the perception on numbers and improvements before counting (division equality, minority, quantity, etc.), formation of the natural numbers and their structural features, teaching the four mathematical operations with natural numbers (adding, subtraction, multiplication, division). Perception about how the organization of fraction and fractional numbers made, basic perceptions of geometry, definitions, conception of measurement and perception about this, teaching mathematics in primary schools supported by computers, planning the mathematical operations to be used as samples, application and evaluation of these operations.
