Course Objective Photonics is a rapidly developing technology with applications in communications, medicine, computing, environmental studies, basic science, and many other fields. The aim of the course is to give information about different definitions and behaviors of light and interaction of light with matter.
Course Content The basic descriptions of light as rays (geometrical optics), waves (physical optics), and photons. Electromagnetic theory of light. Reflection and refraction of light rays and waves from planar and curved surfaces. Statistical optics and photon optics.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
