Course Objective This course proceeds through reading and discussing the main texts of Classical and Contemporary theorists in Sociology. Reading a theorist's text is an action that must be realized by establishing a mental link with the theorist's other texts and with the texts of other theorists. In addition, the process of reading a text requires constantly considering the social and economic conditions of the period in which the text was written, and establishing a relationship between the text and the period. A student who takes this course is expected to interpret the basic theoretical orientations of Classical and Contemporary theorists of Sociology, to comprehend the relationship between the work of the theorists and the period in which they live, and to acquire the skills to analyze the interaction and transfer between theorists.
Course Content Within the scope of this course, basic texts in the field of sociology will be read and examined and the impact of these texts on the field will be discussed.
