COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To learn basic physical concepts encountered in medical sciences and physiological systems and to understand some biological mechanisms and to acquire the skill of associating these concepts with physiological systems.
Course Content Introduction to biophysics. Cellular biophysics Action potential. Synaptic transmission. Biological feedback control systems. Biophysical basis of the generation of Electroencephalography potentials. Skeletal muscle and Electromyography (EMG). Dynamics of blood flow. Mechanics of respirations. Sensory receptors and processing information. Biomedical intstrumentation and measurements. Bioelectrical applications. Information processing in biological systems.
