Course Objective To teach the students Turkish Independence War, Revolutions of Atatürk and His doctrines and History of Turkish Republic. To give information about threats about Turkey and Revolutions and Principles of Atatürk and Atatürk’s doctrines. To join the Turkish Youth around national targets, Turkey’s integrity parallel with Atatürk’s thoughts and principles.
Course Content Concepts, definitions, methods and sources of the course. Industrial Revolution and French Revolution, Collapse of the Ottoman Empire (19th Century), The Tanzimat and Islahat, 1st and 2nd Constitutional Era, Trablusgarp and Balkan Wars, 1st World War, Mondros Turce, Wilson Principles, Paris Conference, Mustafa Kemal in Samsun and situation of Anatolia, Amasya Notice, National Congresses, Opening of the Senate, Establishment of Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Turkish Parliament) and insurrections, Teşkilat-ı Esasiye Law, establishment of the army, 1st and 2nd Inönü Wars, Kütahya-Eskişehir War, Sakarya War and Battle of Dumlupınar, Treaties of Independence War, Lozan Treaty, end of Regency

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Defines the methodological basic terms, concepts and principles of the History science.
2Explains the conditions preparing Turkish revolution as well as the 19th century European and Ottoman developments.
3Explains the 1st World War and the status of Ottoman Empire in the war.
4Explains the international powers’ plans and projects on Ottoman land.
5Explains the methods of international powers in reaching their targets.
6Explains the features and stages of the National Independence War
7Explains the pioneering role of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the National Independence War.
