Course Objective Understanding basic principles of the Phase Transformation and phase transformations mechanisms
Course Content On balance, one-component system, solidification nucleation homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation, grain growth of pure solid, liquid-solid interfaces, continuous growth, lateral growth, sıvıkatı interfacial temperature distribution, heat flow and interface stability, undercooling, alloys Classification and solidification, solidification of single-phase alloys, eutectic solidification, solidification of ingots and castings, ingot structure, tension, segregation, rapid cooling, the solid-solid transformations, solid-phase nucleation, growth of the solid phase.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Understand basic phase transformation and importance of phase transformation in materials manufacturing and application.
2Comprehend the concepts of deformation, stored energy and mechanisms, recrystallization .
3Comprehend materials production and application principles of the deformation and recrystallization.
4Understand the principles of precipitation hardening and technological importance of the light alloy production.
5Understand the effect of diffusional transformation parameters on the microstructure and properties. They also use TTT and CCT diagrams.
6Comprehend the mechanisms of martensitic transformations and understand transformation kinetics in steels and non-ferrous metals.
