Course Objective Being able to design the production of metal based engineering materials with liquid-solid reactions and being able to control it.
Course Content Liquid metal structure / latent heat of melting / solidification, thermodynamics / Homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation / growth: planar, cellular and dendritic growth fronts and independent / single-phase alloys solidification / Structural excessive cooling / equilibrium and non-equilibrium solidification / solidification of multi-phase alloys (Al-Si alloys and cast iron solidification) / transcripts of gases, formation of porosity, inclusions / Casting structures / Segregation
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1At the end of the lecture; Students will learn How to design metal based engineering materials according to desired conditions and also to design their casting processes and being able to define the problems related with solidification.
2Providing the basic professional terminology and knowledge, which Metallurgical and Materials Engineers would need in their occupation
3Producing the features that is needed in the usage and production of materials
