Course Objective The aim of this course is to introduce the science and technology of metals and materials to undergraduate students. This also introduce related sector. Besides, this informs general knowledge worker health, safety and vocational illness. This course also provides fundamental information of beginning subject of materials science
Course Content Introduction, Definition of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials, Application Fields of Metallurgical Engineering, Education of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in Turkey, The Importance of Materials Science and New Materials, The Importance of Extractive Metallurgy in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Companies in Turkey, The Capacity and performance of Metallurgical Companies in Turkey and Abroad, The Classification of Products, New Trends and Materials Developments in Metallurgical Industry, Work Safety.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To determine principle of Metallurgy and Material Science and to explain basic concept of Metallurgy and Material Science
2To comprehend and interrogate importance of metallurgy and materials science
3To compare the field of Metallurgy and Material Science to the other engineering fields
4To analyze, evaluate and compare historical development and current situations of Metallurgy and Material Science
5To analyze the education of the Metallurgy and Material Science in Turkey. To analyze laboratory and equipment in Metallurgy and Material Science departments. To compare Metallurgy and Material Science education and laboratories available in Universitie
6To categorize materials. To analyze the basics of manufacturing processes, classification, properties and behaviour of same of iron based and the other materials in the basic level.
7To analyze economical situations and importance of iron based and the other materials related to Metallurgy and Material Science
8To analyze the area of the Metallurgy and Material in the world and Turkey and alternative materials
9To understand analyze atomic structure of materials, subatomic parts and their properties. To analyze and usage of periodic table. Compare to each other.
10To comprehend and analyze atom, inter atomic bond types, cyrstal structuresand categorize them
11To analysis, compare information related the lecture subjects each other following literature. And then determined the elements of topic that is interested in and taken as an assignment, to prepare and present it to class
