COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective Instead of harmful and synthetic materials, natural, renewable, carbon neutral, recyclable and less energy consuming materials are defined as sustainable and these materials will be the main focus of this course. This course will focus on the use of global resources for materials used in every sector from manufacturing to construction. Raw material sources, production processes and usage needs for each of these materials will be examined in detail. Material lifecycle and material eco-selection criteria, end-of-life issues and how to improve the sustainability of material production and recycling will be discussed. The use of strategic raw materials in material production will also be emphasized. Suspended renewable materials will be introduced and the possibilities of widespread use in material production will be evaluated. Sustainable technology is a term that describes modern technologies that take care of natural resources and promote economic and social development. The purpose of these technologies is to greatly reduce environmental and ecological risks and to create sustainable products. Accordingly, the course aims to inform and raise awareness about current sustainable technologies.
