Course Objective To understand casting and determine the factors that to be considered on casting, to classifiying of casting methods, criterias of casting design, to determine the proper casting method for application. To eliminate the defects of casting process.
Course Content Terms of general casting technologies and advance casting technologies, to introduction castting Technologies, low pressure die casting, high pressure die casting, centrifugal casting technology, vacumm casting technology, semi solid casting technology, casting of composite materials, single crsytal casting technology, process of directional solidifaction, casting- cost relationship, choosing of casting method.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1 Understanding solidification behaviours of metals and alloys and their differences
2Recognises metal manufacturing by casting and the differences between cast metal manufacturing from other metal manufacturing processes.
3Understanding general casting principles
4Understanding metal casting processes, their differences and desides which casting process should be used ofr certain conditions.
5Makes comments on how to achieve dimentional control in casting processes.
6Makes comments on how to achieve microstructural and performance control on cast cast parts
7Knowledge on principals of molding design in casting processes. Knowledge on principles of computer aided molding and casting simulations
8Understands use of computer programs in cast metal processes and use of casting simulation softwares.
