Course Objective The aim of this course is to teach and introduce various industrial furnace equipments used for melting and heat treatment applications which are crucial for processing metallurgy and non metallic materials’ production, and specifying structure-property relationships of lining materials used in these furnaces, broadening the vision of undergraduate students with recent progress in this field
Course Content Classification of Refractory materials and their properties. Silica; Magnesite, Dolomite; Chrome and Chrome-Magnesite refractories. Monolithic refractories, Isolation refractories; Classification of furnaces according to their technology and design. Metal melting furnaces; Metal heating and heat treatment furnaces; Ceramic furnaces. Selection criteria’s for furnaces.
