Course Objective Students is to provide information about commonly used the protocols and technologies in industrial communication systems.
Course Content Introduction to real-time network systems, Fundamentals of data communication (serial and parallel communication methods),Serial interfaces used in industrial systems (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, USB, etc.),Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) and general characteristics of industrial communication systems, Definition, application areas and operating principle of Inter-Integrated Communications (I2C), Definition, application areas and operating principle of AS-Interface, Architecture, characteristics, operations and application areas of Controller Area Network (CAN), High-Level Protocols: Devicenet, CANOPEN, CANKingdom, Definition, application areas and operating principle of Industrial Ethernet protocol, PROFIBUS, PROFINET,WORLDFIP, INTERBUS, Interworking industrial communication systems.
