Course Objective This course will examine theoretical issues related to the psychology of sport & exercise; theories of motivation and exercise behavior will be examined in relation to the increasing problems of exercise adherence and physical inactivity. Other topics that will be discussed include: the psychological benefits of exercise, personality and exercise, body image and exercise.Various techniques will be discussed in relation to motivating exercise behaviors.
Course Content In the content of this course definition of sport and exercise psychology, motivation and exercise behavior, psychological effects of exercise, personality and exercise, body image and exercise, motivational methods for exercise.

2 Essential concepts related to psychology. The function of the sport psychology. Ethical standards of Sport Psychology.
3 Complexity of human behavior. Mental and emotional psychological events. Dimensions of Sports performance.
4 Nervous system, sensation and perception.
5 Motivation and motivation classifications. Motivation theories (e.g., Achievement goal theory, attribution theory). Strategies to motivate athletes.
6 Enhancing performance in sport. Imagination and specific points in imagination. Goal setting. Attention and concentration.
