COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Compulsory
Course Objective Students who finish this course will develop and discuss the general knowledge and skills about children with special needs and special education.
Course Content Description on special education, basic principles of special education, reasons of being handicapped, historical approach to handicap, mentally disabled, deafness, blindness, physically disabled, miscommunication, having continuous illness, having learning disability, attention deficit and hyperactivity, autism, characteristics and education of highly gifted children, to educate children having different development features with game, families of children who need special education, special education in our country, institutions of special education.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To know and explain basic concepts about the field of the special education and the children who need the special education.
2To know the historical development of special education and construct the relationships between past and future applications.
3To be aware of the ethical rules about the field of the special education.
4To know the assessment method in the special education.
5To know the procedures about screening, diagnosis and replacement about individuals with disabilities.
6To represent the basic components of the individualzed educational plan (IEP) and to know own responsibilities in the procedure of the preparing IEP.
7To explain the mainstreaming applications and differentiate it based on the individual differences
8To verbalize the importance of the family education in the special education applications.
9To represent basic component of the family education and its procedure.
10To explain the definition, assessment and causes of mental deficency and charactistics of students with mental deficiency, adaptation the class environment for these students.
11To explain the definition, assessment and causes of deaf deficency and charactistics of students with deaf deficiency, adaptation the class environment
12To explain the definition, assessment and causes of vision deficency and charactistics of students with vision deficiency, adaptation the class environment
13To explain the definition, assessment and causes of physical deficency/choronic diseases and charactistics of students with physical deficency/choronic diseases, adaptation the class environment
14To explain the definition, assessment and causes of language disorders and charactistics of students with language disorders, adaptation the class environment.
15To explain the definition, assessment and causes of learning disabilities and charactistics of students with learning disabilities, adaptation the class environment.
16To explain the definition, assessment and causes of mood and behavioral disorders and charactistics of students with mood and behavioral disorders, adaptation the class environment.
17To explain the definition, assessment and causes of autism and charactistics of students with autism, adaptation the class environment
