Course Objective As a whole to teach the students the general geological characteristics of Turkey and their significance.
Course Content Introduction and general evaluation of the course contents, historical development of geology in Turkey, geological significance of Turkey, orogenesis recorded in Turkey and their recognition, a general view to the geology of Turkey, tectonic units of Turkey: Pontides, Anatolides, Taurids, Marginal Fold Belt, significance of metamorphic areas (massifs) and metamorphic ares in Turkey, Pulur massif, Uludağ massf, Menderes massif, Niğde massif, Bitlis massif, ophiolitic rocks and ophiolitic masses in Turkey, neotectonics of Turkey, significant falts and seismisity of Turkey. .
