Course Objective To confirm the roots of modern political thought; to follow the impact of political thought over the formation of political institutions.
Course Content This course examines the classical period with main titles as Political Thought in Ancient Greece, Political Thought in Rome, Christianity and Political Thought. Also the relation between Islamic political thought and Greek and Christian thought is emphasized.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1It expresses that politics is rather treated by philosophical view before modernity.
2It clarifies that classical political thought is a whole which consists of philosophers who are not disconnected to each other.
3It clarifies that classical political thought mainly serves for the legitimization of a political order or criticizes it.
4It presents that there is a relation between different political institutions, regimes (like democracy) of contemporary world and the ideas deliberated in early times of history of political thought.
5It explains that in political thought there is a distinction between ‘what is’ and ‘what ought to be’ (normative).
