Course Objective This lesson aims to introduce the various alternative communication methods that disabled people who can not use private communication can use, the characteristics of these methods, the considerations to prepare and use these methods, and the evaluation methods that can be applied to choose alternative communication methods suitable for the person.
Course Content Communication concepts and elements of communication; characteristics and problems of communication specific to autism spectrum disorders, problems related to receptive language, problems related to expressive language, alternative communication systems: alternative communication methods requiring low and high technology, signal systems, visual support systems, communication folder, communication board, writing board, alternative communication systems, visual charts, object mapping, photography, written event charts.
