Course Objective	Obtaining information about the aims, characteristics and implementation of early intervention programs for young children with developmental delay/disabilities or at-risk children; to gain the skills of evaluating the child with developmental delay/disability, developing the individual education program, applying this program, and evaluating the developments in the child based on the Small Steps Early Intervention Program.
Course Content	Development in early childhood; characteristics of early childhood; approaches in early intervention; types of early intervention programs: home, home and institution based early intervention programs; early intervention program features; international and national early intervention programs for intellectual disability; current early intervention programs in Turkey (Small Steps, PORTAGE, GEDEP, ETEÇO etc.).

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

1	To explain the theoretical foundations of early childhood special education.
2	To explain early intervention strategies and service delivery models for young children with developmental delays/disabilities.
3	To explain the aims, characteristics, and implementation of early education programs developed for young children with developmental retardation.
4	To evaluate the child with developmental delay/disability, to developing the individual education program, to implement this program, and to evaluate the developments in the child based on the Small Steps Early Intervention Program.
5	To work in cooperation with parents and families during the implementation of the program.
