Course Objective This course aims to provide special education pre-service teachers with the knowledge and skills related to play and music teaching to individuals with special needs.
Course Content Basic concepts, play and music; definition and importance of play; theoretical explanations of the play; development and characteristics of play in children; cognitive and social play development; play development and play characteristics in children with special needs; teaching through play in special education; use and adaptation of the play in children with special needs; play-based instructional practices/ activities; developmental areas that can be supported through play; applications of embedding teaching into the play, research results on the effective use of the play in special education, definition and importance of music; development and characteristics of music; music characteristics of students with special needs; teaching through music in special education; the use and adaptation of music in children with special needs; music-based instructional practices/ activities; developmental areas that can be supported through music; applications of embedding teaching into music, research results on the effective use of music in special education.
