Course Objective Develop understanding of Turkish Traditional Art Music historically and terminologically, performance practices.
Course Content The roots and historical development of the Turkish Traditional Art Music, Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek sound systems, Maqam and Seyir, 4th’s and 5th’s, Half and whole kalis’, Acemasiran, Acemkurdi, Bayatî, Buselik, Evic, Hicaz, Hicazkar, Huseynî, Huzzam, Karcigar, Kurdilihicazkar, Mahur, Muhayyerkurdi, Muhayyer, Nihavend, Nikriz, Rast, Saba, Segah, Suznak, Ussak maqams, Usul’s Form’s and instruments.
