Course Objective Teaches the milestones of cognitive, physical and social development in early adulthood, adulthood, and old age. It is aimed to improve the interaction skills of the students in the groups by means of group activities and group assignments. Students who discuss current research articles in groups will learn about the contributions and limitations of research studies to the literature and how future studies can be directed. Within the scope of this course, students will conduct an in-depth review of the literature on adulthood and aging psychology through the research proposal to be made by the students at the end of the semester. Among these students, researchers who have the potential to be interested in adulthood and old adulthood will have the opportunity to carry out this research proposal or similar ones in the future, and thanks to this course, they will be able to lay the foundation of their future research in this field.
Course Content After this course, students will learn topics such as the definition, criteria, and theories of adulthood, main theories of development, physical, psychological, emotional changes, and changes in memory systems (i.e., sensory memory, attention processing speed, short-term memory, and long-term memory) during early adulthood, adulthood, and old adulthood periods. Students will also have the opportunity to analyze gender differences, individual differences, and cultural differences in these life periods.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Describes and explains the physiological, cognitive, psychological and emotional changes that occur in adulthood and old age, in a general framework, and specifically the changes in memory systems in more detail. In addition, the student can list and explain the gender differences, individual differences, and cultural differences in the aging process.
2Interprets and summarizes research articles on adulthood and the aging process.
3Can critically examine the methods and findings of current research studies on adulthood and the aging process and is knowledgeable about what are their contribution to the literature and how these studies can guide future research.
4Values individual differences and different opinions.
5Develops effective communication skills with the help of group work.
