COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of the course is for the students to provide characteristics of children at risk within a developmental context and to understand and experience working with children at risk.
Course Content This course includes understanding the risk and protective factors and developmental consequences of children at risk under different conditions (e.g. children exposed to abuse and neglect, children in institutional care, street children). This lecture also covers current theories and fundamental issues related to children at risk.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Obtains a deep knowledge and understanding of children in adverse life situations and their families.
2Identifies risk and protective factors for children at risk.
3Understand the social context of children at risk including the influences of family, culture, peers as well as the educational, legal, institutions.

5Shows ability to present and discuss information, problems and solutions within the area of children at risk.
