Course Objective To know the types of materials used in the industrial area, to understand their basic features, to choose the most suitable materials for design and to know manufacturing methods.
Course Content First forming methods and technologies, separation methods and technologies, joining techniques, heat treatment and coating techniques. Material classification and structural properties, properties of materials, places of use, classification and standards, Manufacturing processes are introduced.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Gains the ability to define the general features of manufacturing techniques by comprehending the scope of duty of mechatronics technician. Gains the concepts of materials science, basic material information, general properties, and the ability of which materials can be used where.
2Get to know adjustable measuring and control instruments and have knowledge about it. Have the ability to use calipers and protractors effectively. Gains the ability to know the inspection and control methods of materials.
3Gains basic knowledge and skills in universal turning and milling machines. Selects suitable cutting tools, connects and disassembles various workpieces. Gains the ability to select and apply the speed, speed and feed rate values required for the processes. Gains knowledge of iron and casting types and production, usage areas of non-ferrous materials.
4Sharpening the cutting tools in emery stones, gains knowledge and skill processes. Gains the skill of knowing the basic heat treatments and hardening methods applied to the materials and in which cases they will be applied.
5It has unbreakable joining and basic source knowledge and skill operations. Gains the ability to choose electric arc welding machine types, welding accessories and electrodes. Knows the place and importance of material alloys in the sector.
