COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Associate's Degree

Course Objective To teach the students the importance of packaging for foods and the properties of packaging materials, to give appropriate packaging materials and packaging methods for various foods.
Course Content The importance of packaging material for the food producer and consumer, Relationships between the protection functions of packaging materials and food spoilage, Introduction of glass, paper, metal, plastic and multi-layer packaging materials, Packaging material recommendations for packaging various foods and different packaging methods (aseptic packaging, in modified atmosphere packaging etc.).
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

2Learning the general properties of glass, paper, wood, metal, plastic and multi-layer packaging materials used in foods and their usage areas in the food industry
3Learning the importance and methods of aseptic packaging, Understanding the importance of packaging in modified atmosphere and storage in controlled atmosphere and gaining information about them
4Understanding of migration and its importance, Learning about line code system, Having knowledge about some symbols on packaging materials
5Gaining the ability to make suggestions on the packaging of foods
