Course Objective The course begins with a general introduction to bitumen and related definitions. The manufacture of the bitumen from refinery, the main applications on roads, the modification processes as well as other engineering applications will be studied in detail.

1To classify asphalt sources, formation and classification of bituminous materials.
2 To compare asphalt cements and their area of application.
3To choose available materials and equipments for flexible pavement construction purposes.
4To interpret the role of bitumen for the rehabilitation of pavement .
5To relate theoritical knowledge to experimental data
