Course Objective The aim of this course is to provide students with information about the chemical structure used in the modification and cross-linking of biomolecules used in scientific research, diagnosis and treatment, and their basic applications.
Course Content Introduction to Bioconjugation, Functional Targets for Bioconjugation, Reactions of Bioconjugation, Zero-Length Cross-Linkers, Homobifunctional Cross-Linkers, Heterobifunctional Cross-Linkers, Trifunctional Cross-Linkers, Dendrimers and Dendrons, Cross Bridges and Cleavable Reagent Systems, Fluorescent Probes, (Strept)avidin–Biotin Systems , Isotopic Labeling Techniques, Silane Coupling Agents, Vaccines and Immunogen Conjugates, Antibody Modification and Conjugation, Liposome Conjugates and Derivatives, Enzyme Modification and Conjugation.

1To have knowledge about bioconjugation chemistry and the structure of reactive groups used in bioconjugation.
2Learning how to modify biomolecules through bioconjugation
3Ability to design new functional structures that can be used in diagnosis and treatment using bioconjugate techniques
4Ability to read and understand articles where bioconjugation techniques are applied
5Ability to follow current developments in bioconjugation techniques.
