Course Objective Students taking this course will have knowledge in the field of Medical Textiles, will be able to design and develop new products, analyze experiment/research results, and present/disseminate the results of their research in an appropriate manner.
Course Content An overview of medical textile products, A brief description of textile fibers, A brief description of the production processes of medical textile materials, Applications of advanced technologies in the development of functional medical textile materials, Superabsorbent polymers and their medical applications, Functional wound dressings, Medical bandages and socks, Surgical sutures, Textiles for implants and regenerative medicine, Antimicrobial therapies for the treatment of wound infection, Medical textiles for odor control, Medical textiles with drug release properties, Biocompatibility testing for medical textiles, Research and development for medical textiles
