Course Objective	Providing information on how product design and production are affected by the concept of machinability, machinability methods and operation.
Course Content	Concept of workability. Experiments with and without machining. Metal cutting mechanics. Chip formation. Tool cracking and its effect on chip morphology. Tool wear. Cutting fluids. Economics of processing. Integrity of the treated surface. Surface motif parameters. Surface condition after machining. Methods used to evaluate machined surfaces. Metal matrix composites (MMK). Traditional production methods and processability. Non-traditional production methods and machinability.
