Course Objective The aim of this course is to inform students about the basic principles of fruit growing.
Course Content The place and importance of fruit growing in the national economy. Production amounts according to regions, Economic requirements of fruit growing: Climatic factors, soil factors, Flower bud formation in fruit trees: Bud structures, Physiological separation and morphological separation periods, Formation of fruit: Sexual distribution in fruit species, pollination and fertilisation, fruit dropping and thinning, excessive yield (periodicity) in fruit trees, Fruiting technique: Propagation technique of fruit trees (Generative propagation, Vegetative propagation), Fruiting technique: Fruit trees propagation technique (generative propagation, vegetative propagation), Fruit sapling cultivation: Selection of nursery place, Growing rootstock, Establishment of orchard and annual maintenance works, Plant growth regulators, properties and uses in fruit growing, Plant growth regulators, properties and uses in fruit growing, Fruit pomology, Important fruit species: Apple, Pear, Quince, Loquat, Loquat, Cherry, Cherry, Peach, Nectarine, Apricot, Plum, Pistachio, Almond, Hazelnut, Walnut, Chestnut, Fig, Pomegranate, Olive, Strawberry, Pruning of fruit trees, Harvesting, preservation and marketing of fruits will be explained.
