Course Objective
Students will be able to recognize the production facilities for the production of greenhouse production, to organize the environmental conditions, to apply appropriate production techniques and to follow current developments.
Course Content
History of greenhouse agriculture, its place and importance in agriculture, types of covers used in plant production, classification of greenhouses, factors affecting the selection of greenhouse location, basic principles of greenhouse planning, greenhouse building materials and building elements, greenhouse climate regulation, greenhouse soil preparation, irrigation and drainage systems in greenhouse plants, soilless culture systems, greenhouse cultivation of some important vegetables. The place of greenhouse fruit growing in the national economy, classification of fruit species according to fruit characteristics and climate requirements, general biological characteristics of fruits, ecological requirements of fruit species, flower bud formation in fruit trees, factors affecting flower bud formation, important species cultivated under cover (grapes, bananas, strawberries, berries, grape fruits, stone fruits, tropical and subtropical species), harvest and harvest criteria will be explained.
