COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To have general knowledge about cultivation techniques, propagation methods and maintenance procedures of ornamental plants (Cut Flowers, Indoor Ornamental Plants, Outdoor Ornamental Plants and Natural Flower Bulbs).
Course Content Definition of ornamental plants, economic importance. Technological requirements for cut flower cultivation. Carnation, Gerbera, Rose, Chrysanthemum, daffodil cultivation, end of harvest operations. Principles of use, propagation, cultivation of indoor plants. The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize the protection, reproduction, growth, transfer of natural flower bulbs to future generations and indoor ornamental plants, to comprehend the latest technological developments related to ornamental plants, to realize their reproduction, cultivation, to solve the problems they may encounter in production, to understand the importance of preservation, storage, marketing and quality issues. Recognition of outdoor ornamental plants, understanding the economic importance, learning cultivation techniques and care will be explained.
