COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To comprehend the basic principles of measurement, to gain the ability to make measurements in the field and to use measuring instruments.
Course Content Introduction of the course: Scope, Content, Importance, Rules, Measurement units, Error calculation, Measuring length and right angles with simple measuring instruments, Triangulation, vertical coordinate and polar reception method, Extraction of location plans, Area calculation according to measurement values and coordinate values Guided field work, Area calculation with graphical method and planimeter, levelling instrument and point levelling, profile levelling, surface levelling, drawing equi-elevation curves, reading topographic maps, sectioning, basic principles of GPS and practical explanation of these topics.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to make basic land measurements to obtain data in agricultural engineering, to work with basic measuring instruments;
2To be able to comprehend the basic principles of measurements related to height measurement, to be able to plan and apply measurements;
3To be able to make surface levelling and draw co-elevation curves;
4To gain the ability to read and interpret topographic maps;
