Course Objective This course introduces the students to the world of literature and teaches them the basic literary terms that they will use in their literature courses in the following years, to make an introduction to the genres of poetry, short fiction, drama, and novel. In addition, basic analytical approaches to literature are covered. By studying different writings from different genres, students will be able to use the literary terms, concepts and key terms concerning the literary movements.

1Acquires knowledge in the definition of literature and history
2Recognize literary genres, terms related to genres and learn periods.
3Reads and understands literary texts and uses literary terms and concepts correctly and appropriately.
4Obtains advanced field knowledge and follows theoretical studies, and examines literary texts with the conceptual knowledge he/she acquires.
5Comments on literary texts using the acquired advanced knowledge and skills in the field.
6 Makes deductions and evaluations on literary texts using literary concepts
