Department of Mechanical Engineering began to give training at an undergraduate level in the 1976-1977 academic year and graduate & doctoral level in the 1994-1995 academic year. Department of Mechanical Engineering has a wide range of academic staff such as; • 6 Professors • 6 Associate Professors • 15 Assistant Professors • 8 Dr. Research Assistants • 1 Lecturer • 4 Research Assistants Total number of undergraduate students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering is 807. 36 Master and 20 PhD students continue to study under the supervisor of department faculty members. In the department, there are various laboratories used efficiently, such as, mechanics, construction and manufacturing, thermodynamics, materials, composite materials, welding, machine dynamics, energy and computer aided design laboratories.
