209 LABOUR ECONOMICS AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION
Labour Economics and Industrial Relations Program aims to the students to become a qualified expert who can be well-versed in the regulations governing working life and possess the adequate technical knowledge and have necessary psychological, sociological and economic perspectives in order to strengthen the dialogue between workers and employers.

Objective
Aims of our program 1. To provide qualified education that combines economic, social, psychological and legal equipment with theory and practice in the fields of social policy, labor economics and industrial relations, human resources, labor law and social security, and develops skills and competencies in areas of interest. 2. To offer a qualified training program to train qualified public and private sector managers and experts who have the vision needed by the labor market, who constantly renew themselves with the philosophy of lifelong education, and who have the capacity to solve social problems, 3. To raise individuals who can contribute to the creation of working environments that will increase productivity and develop jobs worthy of human dignity in Turkey and the world. 4. To ensure that department stakeholders can develop advanced analyzes by supporting their interaction with scientific knowledge and scientific activities produced within the framework of interdisciplinary and relevant branches of science.


Admission Requirements
Students are required to have a secondary school diploma and sufficient grades from a high education institution i.e. ÖSYM to register in the program.

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum with no failing grades and have a minimum CGPA requirement as stated in Pamukkale University’s undergraduate program guide.

Career Opportunties
Our graduates can be employed in public and private sectors and can benefit from all the other employment opportunities given to the other graduates in the other departments of our faculty. Also our graduates have a higher chance of employment in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Family and Social Services, the Turkish Labour Institution and in labour unions and also in banks, insurance companies, and human resources departments. Graduates can also work as job consultant and labour inspector.

Recognition of Prior Learning
For students who want to transfer from higher education institutions in Turkey to Pamukkale University, the provisions of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" are applied. The common compulsory foreign language courses exemption exam is held at the beginning of the fall semester on the date specified in the academic calendar. No excuse exam is allowed for this exam. Students of faculties/vocational schools/schools who do not have a preparatory program take the joint compulsory foreign language exemption exam. Students who will take the exemption exam apply to the relevant unit within the period specified in the academic calendar. Also; Students who enroll in departments with foreign language preparatory programs for the first time take a placement and proficiency exam before the academic year starts. Students are placed in one of the beginner, intermediate-lower level or intermediate level groups according to the scores they get in this exam, or those who have proficiency points are exempted from preparatory education. The score ranges of these groups are determined by the School Directorate. Exam results are announced in relevant places and on the website of the School of Foreign Languages. Among the students who are enrolled in the departments/programs accepted to the compulsory preparatory education, those who do not take the level determination and proficiency exam start their education at the beginning level.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies can study in post-graduate programs provided that they receive valid grades from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To possess theoretical knowledge at a level sufficient to analyze working life from economic, social, psychological and legal perspectives, and to interpret this knowledge in conjunction with other disciplines.
2To possess advanced level of theoretical knowledge in the fields of social policy, labor law, social security, industrial psychology, sociology of work and industrial relations.
3To contribute to the understanding of labor relations within a global and societal framework, particularly in the fields of social sciences and labor markets, addressing issues related to social policy, occupational health, and both macro and micro human resources challenges.
4 Identify the fundamental problems related to labor relations and to develop the skills to model and solve them.
5To be able to perceive unemployment and employment issues along with the broader aspects of labor economics, in conjunction with other branches of science, to identify their stakeholders and to have an analytical mindset and perspective in order to generate and implement solutions.
6To analyze social policy at both national and international levels, to hold positions in decision-making and representation roles within institutions such as the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), European Union (EU), International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations (UN), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to formulate public policies and to establish inter-policy relationships.
7To value the universality of social rights, to have awareness of social responsibility, equality and social justice.
8To acquire the skill of conducting field research at the undergraduate level, to possess a scientific perspective, to think analytically and to develop solution proposals based on facts, evidence, and research.
9To comprehend the concept of social security and its applications, to generate short, medium, and long-term solutions appropriate to demographic structure and labor market conditions and to conduct comparative analysis.
10To ensure peace, justice, and order in the workplace, to possess theoretical and legal knowledge of individual and collective labor relations, and to contribute to social dialogue.
11To have the ability to analyze presented data during both normal periods and crisis situations, interpret their results and generate creative solutions.
12To be able to conduct and implement human resource planning at macro and micro levels and manage within a framework that decent work.
13To possess basic cognitive skills such as teamwork, the ability to articulate oneself verbally and in writing effectively, generating proactive solutions, managing change, and having a lifelong learning motivation.
