731 CHILD DEVELOPMENT

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Child Development Program, located within the Child Care and Youth Services Department of Pamukkale University Acıpayam Vocational School, was established in the 2018-2019 academic year and provides associate degree education. The program employs a 3+1 education model; students receive theoretical and practical training consisting of compulsory and elective courses for three semesters, and then spend one semester developing their professional knowledge and skills in a real work environment through on-the-job training. The program's academic staff consists of four expert lecturers, and the general quota determined by the Council of Higher Education is 30 students as of the 2025-2026 academic year. Students who successfully complete all courses and practical applications and meet the program's requirements are entitled to receive an associate degree in Child Development.

Objective
To teach students the fundamental concepts of child development and enable them to acquire the skills to apply this knowledge in practice. To train professionals who understand the needs of children with special needs, develop appropriate educational materials, and guide families through the processes. To train individuals who collect, interpret, and evaluate data using the knowledge and skills they acquire in the field of child development. To provide opportunities for them to reinforce their scientifically based knowledge and practical skills through business internships. To contribute to the development of fundamental competencies such as effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership. To train individuals with a level of foreign language proficiency that enables them to follow innovations in the field of child development. To ensure that graduates are knowledgeable in environmental protection, quality standards, occupational health and safety, and first aid. To support the continuous development of graduates throughout their professional lives by enabling them to follow innovations at national and international levels.


Admission Requirements
Admission to the Child Development Program is based on candidates achieving a sufficient score in the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) type of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), conducted annually by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), and choosing the program. Additionally, student applications made through Inter-institutional Transfer and Central Transfer are evaluated in accordance with the relevant legislation and regulations in force, and student admission to the program is made based on the evaluation results.

Graduation Requirements
A student can graduate with an academic average of at least 2.25, 120 ECTS and completion of the Vocational Training in Enterprise course.

1. Administrative, teacher and teacher assistant in private kindergartens and kindergartens, 2. Administrators, teachers and teacher assistants in special education and rehabilitation centers, 3. In kindergarten and primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, master instructor, 4. Parental trainers in private research and consulting companies, 5. In maternity health centers, inpatient institutions and social services in child protection institutions, 6. In the children's toys sector, 7. Child care staff for working parents, 8. Television and radio children's program producer, 9. They can work as counselors in preparing children's books.

Recognition of Prior Learning
For students who want to transfer from higher education institutions in Turkey to Pamukkale University, the provisions of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
A student can graduate with an academic average of at least 2.25, 120 ECTS and completion of the Vocational Training in Enterprise course.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates who successfully complete the Child Development Program can transfer to undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Placement procedures within the DGS are carried out by ÖSYM, taking into account candidates' exam scores and associate degree academic achievements. Graduates can be placed in undergraduate programs such as Child Development, Preschool Education, Special Education, Health Management, and Social Work, provided there are available places.
