Course Objective Students taking this course will become familiar with the basic concepts, systems and current approaches in production/operations management. The aim is to provide students with detailed information by discussing current approaches separately.
Course Content System definition, Importance and Production Systems. Historical Development of Production Systems (Changes and transformations occurring in production systems). Comparison of traditional and modern production systems. The concept of flexibility in production and Flexible Production Systems. Just in Time Production System. Computer Aided Manufacturing Systems (CIM, CAD and industrial robots). Total quality Management. Supply chain management. Lean Manufacturing and Philosophy. The Concept of Speed in Production and Agile Production. Green Production (Environmentally Friendly Production). Industry 4.0.
