COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective It is aimed to teach the chronological development of ancient architecture, the location and functions of the buildings in the city, the detailed examination of the examples of classical Greek, Roman and Byzantine architecture in Anatolia, Mesopotamia, Mediterranean and European countries, the effects of Greek, Roman and Byzantine architecture on later periods and modern architecture, the knowledge of comparing modern architecture and ancient architecture.
Course Content Chronological development of architecture, location of buildings in the city, detailed examination of Greek, Roman and Byzantine architecture, important architects and the buildings they built, public buildings, religious buildings, civil architecture, military architecture, examples from Anatolia, Mesopotamia, Mediterranean and European countries, periodical differences in architecture, the effects of ancient architecture on later periods and modern architecture.
