COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Associate's Degree
Course Type Compulsory
Course Objective To gain the ability to recognize the types of materials used in the industrial field, to understand their basic properties, and to choose the most suitable materials for design.
Course Content Definition and classification of materials, Internal structure of materials and concepts related to internal structure, Iron-Carbon balance diagram, Heat treatment, Non-ferrous materials (ceramics, plastics), Forming methods of materials (rolling and forging), Steel standards.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Recognizes materials, classifies them and knows their properties.)
2Knows atomic structure and bond forces and explains solidification/melting behaviors.
3Knows the carbon balance diagram and carbon alloys and defines the heat treatments applied to steels.
4Knows surface hardening processes and application areas. Recognizes non-ferrous metals. Knows steel standards.
5Have basic, up-to-date information about materials and their application areas.
