Course Objective	The purpose of this course is to carry out theoretical and analytical studies in terms of the influences of media and popular culture on the language and content of literature and analyse the relationship of media, popular culture and literature over the selected novels and poems in English literature.
Course Content	The historical, philosophical, political and social relations of the English novel will be analysed technically and stylistically. These technical and stylistic novelties introduced by the elements of popular culture will be analysed. Selected novels and examples of poetry written with the elements of popular culture will be analysed and examined through the theories of literary criticism.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

1	analyses the stylistic and thematic novelties brought by media and popular culture to literature.
2	studies and analyses technically the influence of media and popular culture on literature.
3	identifies the differences of narrative in the novels written under the influence of media and popular culture.
4	identifies and analyses the ambiguities caused by the elements of popular culture or their contributions to the language of the novel.
5	reads and criticises the novels written under the influence of media with the elements of popular culture from the perspective of contemporary critical theories.
6	capable of understanding the mutual contributions of popular culture and novel to each other.
7	observes the differences between classical novels and popular novels written with the elements of popular culture.
8	writes articles on the comparison of popular culture and novel.
9	writes comparative and critical essays by reading a novel alongside with its elements of popular culture.
10	applies theories of novel and criticism in popular culture analyses.
