2268 CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

GENERAL INFORMATION
Pamukkale University Social Sciences Institute, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets Master Degree Programme was established on April 2012.With the help of this programme, our cultural values will determinate on an interdisciplinary view and also conservation problems will specify and providing of the solutions on the problems, specialist are going to educate on these aim.

Objective
Our country has a great number of mobile and immobile cultural assets which date back as long as prehistoric times. Since most of them are immobile, they are exhibited where they exist. These historical artifacts and monuments are exposed to distortion within time in their places where they are exhibited. Likewise, it is necessary that works found in excavations must be preserved. Therefore, all these must be preserved and restored in accordance with their original forms. Competent experts are required in order to carry out the most appropriate scientific treatment on them. The objectives of the Programme of Preserving and Repairing of Cultural Assets include : Evaluation of current situation of the deterioration, analyzing of the works, determining the best keeping and preserving conditions, developing and providing the most ideal equipment in compliance with the original structure of the work and universal ethics, preparing feasible preservation projects.


Admission Requirements
Having a graduate diploma from Departments of Preserving and Repairing of the Cultural Assets and the relevant departments of Science- Literature Faculties, Faculties of Architecture, Faculties of Fine Arts, Engineering Faculties and Education Faculties.,ALES; ÜDS/KPDS; graduation mark

Graduation Requirements
Students must complete (21 credit) credit obligations when finish the programme.Grade average must be min. 3.00/4.00; defense of thesis and research seminar must be complete.

Career Opportunties
They can work in laboratories of restoration centers within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, museums and archaeological excavations, national palaces, Genaral Administration of Foundations and Local Administrations, municipality departments related to historical works, concerning departments of provincial special administrations, companies dealing with preservation, restoration and reparation of the mobile and immobile historical assets.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Provide the knowledge about essence concepts and practical fields of conservation
2Provide to know other sciences related with conservation and display relations with the archaeology.
3To perceive the archaeological values of our country in cultural progress and evaluate the interaction with contemporary world
4Evaluate the small archaeological historic features , interpret and conservation
5History of a monument to be protected, the research of historic environment, analysis of the context of art and architectural history; preparing the analytical relief of the monument,making restitution project, documenting the types of distortion, evaluating the conservation problems; applicability of the conservation techniques to the monument
6Repairing historic buildings and interior-exterior building elements belonging to them and protection as original according to the techniques used today.
7Historical environment concepts , the course's basic contents are definition and classifition of historical sites;objects which define historical environment,values of complex sites,urban focus,settlement silhouttes;sea coast settlements;arcaeological areas;living historical cities;ural settlements;landscape evaluation;reasons of decays on historical environment.
