607 TOURISM MANAGEMENT

GENERAL INFORMATION
Tourism Management department started education with 40 students in the 2009-2010 academic year. Education period in our department is 4 years. Courses are taught both theoretically and practically. Internship is mandatory in our department.

Objective
The Department of Tourism Management aims to prepare students for their entrepreneurial, managerial and academic careers by providing them with contemporary education programs and practices, at international standards. All our academic and administrative staff provide high quality education and training services for our students to be successful in their career lives, by equipping them with up-to-date knowledge, and improving their analytical and objective thinking skills.

To get enough points from Equal Weight score.

Graduation Requirements
Students must complete at least 240 ECTS in order to graduate from this department.

Career Opportunties
The graduates will take part in various departments of tourism enterprises in Turkey or abroad. They can be employed as middle and senior managers. The former graduates of the department have already reached different managerial positions in well-known international and national hotel chains, travel agencies, airline companies and other enterprises in tourism industry. The lack of trained staff in the tourism industry has still create trouble. Graduates of our department will contribute to the elimination of this problem.

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate (master's and doctoral) programs, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To evaluate the concepts, ideas and data in the field of tourism management with scientific methods, to identify and analyze complex problems and issues, to make discussions, to develop suggestions based on evidence and research.
2To inform people who are related to the subject or not, to convey their thoughts, problems and solution methods to them clearly in written and verbal form.
3To be able to develop learning-to-learn skills and to identify the source of problems in the field with critical thinking, to realize this independently and within the practice of scientific thinking.
4To be able to develop design skills related to the investment phase of a new business to be established in other areas of the tourism and service sector.
5To be able to develop the ability to operate businesses to be established in other areas of the tourism and service sector from the perspective of the five basic functions of management

8Being able to take responsibility and produce solutions in unforeseen complex situations that may be encountered in relation to hotel management, travel management and other types of touristic businesses.

10To be able to use information and communication technologies together with the knowledge of computer software and hardware required by tourism.
11To have the ability to observe social, scientific and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting and announcing data related to the field.
12To have a good understanding of the socio-economic structure of tourism and its importance for the country within the scope of this structure. In this context, to have sufficient knowledge and awareness on issues that also concern the society, such as occupational safety, worker health, social security rights, quality control and management, and the protection of the natural and cultural environment.
13To recognize the sectoral conditions at a level that can cope with the continuous fluctuation due to flexible demand conditions in the field of tourism management.
14To have the knowledge of using and evaluating tools that can analyze a tourism business with its internal and external environment.
