601 Hospitality Management

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Department of Hotel Management started training and education with the capacity of 40 students in the academic year of 2009-2010.

Objective
The main purpose of Hospitality Management Department is to educate staff who has got theoretical and practical information that is needed in the field of hospitality management in tourism sector. The graduates of this department will work in manager positions in hospitality sector which is growing rapidly throughout the world.

Higher School Degree

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from this Department, students must complete at least 148 credits.

Career Opportunties
The graduates will work in various departments of hotel managements in Turkey. They can be employed as mid and upper level managers. Deficiency of staff educated in tourism field is still embarrassing.Our graduates will help to make up for this deficiency.

Recognition of Prior Learning
For students who want to transfer from higher education institutions in Turkey to Pamukkale University, the provisions of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to graduate from this Department, students must complete at least 148 credits.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies can study in post-graduate programs provided that they receive valid grades from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To survey conseptions, ideas and data in the field of tourism by scientific methods, to determine and analyze the confusing problems and subjects, to be able to make arguments, to be able to develop suggestions upon the proofs and researches.
2Informing people whom are either intrested in or not about the subjects related to tourism management; transferring thoughts, problems and solution methods by writing and speaking noticeably to them.
3To be able to develop learning and learning skills and to determine the sources of the problems about critical ideas and performing this by being independent and with the practice of scientific knowledge.
4Designing skill about investment stage of a new business that will be established in the other fields of tourism and service sector.
5The skill of operating new businesses which will be established in the other fields of tourism and service sector by the view point of the five main functions of management.
6To apprehend strategic, tactical and operational dimensions of business management
7To apprehend local, national, international and global dimensions of business management
8To be able to find solutions through confusing and unpredictable situations that can be faced about hotel, travel and other touristic business classes by assuming responsibility.
9To be able to lead employees under the responsibility of him/her by planning the activities about their professional development.
10To be able to use the knowledge of computer software and hardware required by tourism with the technology of information and communication.
11To be able to have the capacity of considering social, scientific and ethic values while collecting data about the field, interpreting and announcing them.
12To understand the constitution of socio economics of tourism and comprehend the importance of it within the context of this constitution. With this constitution, to have enough knowledge and consciousness about the subjects like occupational safety, employee safety, social security rights, quality control and management, protecting natural and cultural enviroment all of which are required by society.
13To know the sectoral conditions coping with the constant fluctuations related to the flexible requests in the field of tourism management.
14To have the knowledge of using and evaluating resources to analyze the interior and external enviroment of a tourism business.
