Course Objective The History of the Republic is a study area with different characteristics than the histories of the previous period. Being aware of this fact, it is necessary to apply study methods to the History of the Republic. The goal is to develop attitudes towards this pragmatic understanding, not the pragmatic purpose of "making history for today". The aim is to seek answers to the question of whether historical thought and study discipline can be applied to the historical period of the Republic, and to discuss the context of the method of examining the events and resources of the historian of the Republic period through comparisons. By this means, the history of the Republic, unlike the histories of the previous period, rendering its qualities more distinctive, while revealing its difference from other areas of the ccontemporary age. It is necessary to work in cooperation with other social sciences in order to study the History of the Republic. The history of the Republic can be studied with its own limitations along with an interdisciplinary method. When writing historical studies, it is important to underline what is important in acting with the understanding of the methodology of history. The subject selection, review of the resources, the documents, the history knowledge and the importance of multidisciplinary work will be emphasized, which will contribute to raising awareness.
Course Content The values of 1789 French Revolution, our historiography from the founding of the Turkish Republic to the 1990s, evolving and changing methodologies and their practices.
