Course Objective the relationship between philosophy and the philosophy of social science subjects, the use of philosophical methods in the social sciences, and to examine some of the problems on these issues.
Course Content Philosophy and social science; empiricism and positivism in science; some problems of empiricism and positivism; some alternatives to empiricism; Marxism and science, Weber, Merton and sociology of science, historical epistemology and structural Marxism, gender and science; hermeneutics approach; Weber’s methodology, objectivity and doctrine of value-free, fenomenology, pragmatism and symbolic interaction, cause and reason, individualism, wholeness, functional explanation.
