Course Objective To study Turkey 20th century politics, coups, political movements, the political foundations of the republic's founding and to examine such issues as
Course Content Political structure, political trends and its effects during the II. Constitutional Monarchy (in Ottoman Era), Establishment of Turkish Republic and its political bases, Social structure and the distribution of political power between 1923-1950. The social and political bases of multi-party period, Democrat Party Government and 1960 Military Coup. New social classes and the rise of left-wing, the system of political party, rising social opposition, re-limitation of politics after 1980, the end of cold war and its affects on Turkey.
