Course Objective The goal of the course is to introduce students to the fundamental concepts, functions, techniques and theories of money and monetary policy and their applications in practice.
Course Content Basic Concepts, Money and Interest Rates Relationship, Monetary, Exchange Rate and Balance of Payments Relationship, Economy General Equilibrium, Monetary Transmission Channels, Money and Inflation, Monetary and Fiscal Policy Interaction, Objectives of monetary policy, Monetary Policy Tools, Monetary Policy Regimes, Financial Fragility, Stabilization Policies

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Describe the functions of money, banking and financial system in an economy
2Identify the reasons of a change in interest rates and consequences of the change on the economy.
3Use the theory of portfolio allocation and Risk Structure and Term Structure of Interest Rates for a profit-maximizing portfolio.
